Wings of Hope exists to offer love, support, and hope to people whose lives have been touched by suicide.
Wings of Hope recognizes the pain and confusion people experience when their lives are touched by suicide. We understand the pain, stigmas and misunderstandings associated with suicide and related issues. We realize the need for love and understanding to fully heal from such a life changing experience. We exist to provide this love and understanding.
Our primary method of providing support is through group support meetings where thoughts and feelings can be openly shared. We offer hope to one another by sharing each others' sorrow and caring for one another from the heart. We help heal each other by sharing what only a Suicide Survivor can experience.
We recognize that the Gospel message is imperative to complete healing. However, we also recognize this might be the last concern of people and can in fact be a factor which keeps them away from the support benefits we offer.
Love is the core value with which we characterize our ministry. We are guided by Romans 12:10-13. "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality." As we work to help others heal we are reminded in 1 Corinthians that "love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Love is important! Galatians 6:2 reinforces this where we are instructed to "Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
God has called us to love and care for people. It is to this end that Wings of Hope exists. The grief that goes hand in hand with life in this world of sorrows presents a special opportunity to share Christ's love with others. We will follow the directives found in Romans 12:15, "Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn."
